In her short life, Leang was sold into sex slavery, forced to have an abortion, and had her family’s home burnt to the ground in a violent act of retaliation by the sex traders following her escape. But now, Leang has found freedom at Rapha House.

Slavery is not a thing of the past. According to the “Trafficking in Persons Report” published by the United States Department of State:

…of the estimated 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and children trafficked across international borders each year, approximately 80 percent are women and girls and up to 50 percent are minors.

The most despicable form of modern-day slavery forces children into the sex trade. At Rapha House, we give shelter to girls who have been rescued from this nightmare. And the Rapha House Freedom Foundation ensures that these girls have the economic and educational opportunities they need to protect their freedom once they leave the shelter.
